How long does the course take?

It takes approximately one hour to complete.

How long do I have to complete the course?

Once you have purchased the course, you have one year to complete it. You can access the course with most internet browsers so long as you are connected to the internet. It is advisable to set aside one hour to complete the course and to try to complete it promptly to achieve the best results on the exam questions.

Is there an exam?

Yes. The course includes an examination. The questions are multiple choice or true/false. There are no essay or short answer questions. The exam covers material from all the course modules.

Is the exam open book?

You will not have access to course content during the examination portion of the course. However, if you have made notes at home you will be able to access those to refresh your memory.

What if I don’t pass the exam?

You can re-take the exam two more times. You will have the opportunity to review the material again before you re-take the exam. If you still do not pass, you will have to re-register for the course or consider enrolling in a more intensive program.

What grade do I need to pass the exam?

You will need to achieve a score of 70% or higher on the final examination to pass the course.

Do I get something to show I’ve completed the course?

If you pass the final examination, you will get a Certificate of Completion. A temporary certificate will be available to print immediately, while a permanent certificate will be mailed within eight weeks to you at the address you provided when you signed up.

I lost my username and/or password. What do I do now?

Please click here to have it reset. Your username and password will be emailed to you at the email address you provided when you signed up for the course.

Can more than one person take the course using my login information?

Only one person per username may take the course. Only one Certificate of Completion will be generated per username, and it will only display the name you provided when you signed up. If someone you know wishes to take the course, they will have to register separately.

My friend and I are both taking the course. Is the test the same for each of us?

The test is comprised of at multiple-choice questions generated from a question database. Your test will be different from that of any other student.

Is this course offered in any other languages besides English?
Not at this time. You may have an interpreter present with you when you are reading the course material and taking the examination. Remember to sign up with your own name and address as this is what will be used when we produce your certificate of completion.
I have been a driver for a long time. Will this course benefit me?

Absolutely! The defensive driving principles covered in our courses are useful at any age and skill level. Even if you are already an experienced driver, a refresher course in safe driving principles is always a good idea. After all, driving can become very routine and monotonous over time. A reminder of how to pay attention and drive safely is always useful.

Can I leave the course open in the background while I do other work?

Yes. But after 20 minutes of inactivity your session will be logged out and you will have to log in again.

How much does the course cost?

The cost for the courses start at $19.95. For the BC Distracted Driving Course, the cost is $49.95 plus tax.

Is this course an ICBC Approved Course that will shorten my graduated licensing period?

No. Graduated licensing courses require an on-road and an in-classroom portion. They must take place over several weeks, as there are minimum hour requirements in order to complete them.

Can I take this course on my smart phone or my tablet

If your phone or tablet supports the technical requirements of the course, then yes.

What are the technical requirements to take this course?

How long will it take for my Certificate to be processed?

The Certificate is produced immediately upon successful completion of the course.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept the following forms of payment: VISA, MasterCard, and PayPal.

I am worried about my personal information and credit card security. Is your website secure?

Yes. We use PayPal to process all payments. PayPal is widely recognized as the most secure way to send and receive payments online. You do not need a PayPal account to pay through PayPal – a credit card will do.

What is the refund policy?
By registering for one of the courses, you agree, understand, and accept that registration fees are non-refundable, however, registration payments can be transferred between courses offered by Canada Online Training Corporation and payments for courses that have not been accessed can be applied as against other offerings. Refunds will not be granted in cases of failure to complete the course in the specified time. Refunds will also not be authorized where the user has failed to access the course at all.
